8 hour timer

A free 8 hour timer set to 8:00:00 and ready to start. It keeps the remaining time in the tab title and saves the end time, so a reload picks up where you left off. Also searched as 8 hr timer, eight hour timer, 480 minute timer.

Overnight uses

Sleeping with a browser timer

A phone browser cannot ring once the screen locks, so for actual sleep use the phone's alarm and keep this page for cooking and shifts. On a desktop you can make it work: set the display to never sleep, keep the volume up, and tick Notify. The sleep timer page covers wind-down routines and white-noise cutoffs. This is general information, not medical advice.

Keeping it running

Eight hours is long enough for almost any device to sleep by default. Keep the tab open, disable display sleep and tick Notify. For an end at a specific clock time, see the alarm clock; for any other length, the countdown timer; for a longer window, the 12 hour timer.

Frequently asked questions

Can an 8 hour browser timer wake me up?

Only on a device that stays awake with sound on, such as a desktop with display sleep turned off. A locked phone mutes browser audio, so use its built-in alarm for sleep.

Does the timer keep going if the computer sleeps?

The end time is saved, so the page shows the correct remaining time when the computer wakes, but the alarm will not sound while it is asleep.

Can I track breaks inside the 8 hours?

Run this page for the shift and a second tab with a 2 hour timer on Repeat for the break rhythm shown in the table.
