6 hour timer

A free 6 hour timer that opens at 6:00:00 and starts with one press of Space. The end time is written to your browser, so if the page reloads it comes back with the right time left, which a phone timer only does if the app survives. Also searched as 6 hr timer, six hour timer, 360 minute timer.

Six hours on Low is the first check-in for most dinners. Faster versions on High are in the 4 hour timer table.

A six-hour shift

Six hours is a common part-time shift and the point at which many states require a meal break. Start the timer when you clock in. If you need a reminder for the break itself, add a second tab with the 3 hour timer or a 30 minute timer for the break.

A short night

If bedtime is late and you have to be up in six hours, this page is a backstop rather than a plan. Adults do best on seven to nine hours. Keep in mind that a phone browser goes quiet when the screen locks, so the sleep timer page explains which setup can actually wake you. The alarm clock page shows how to count down to a clock time instead. This is general information, not medical advice.

Keeping it running

Leave the tab open and the device awake. Tick Notify on a desktop browser for a system notification at zero. Any other length can be typed into the countdown timer.

Frequently asked questions

Is 6 hours enough sleep?

For most adults, no. The CDC recommends seven or more hours a night. Use a six-hour timer as a backstop on a short night, not as a target.

Can I use this as an alarm while I sleep?

On a desktop with the display kept on, yes. On a phone the browser is muted once the screen locks, so use the phone's own alarm instead.

Why does Low take longer than High in a slow cooker?

Both settings reach the same final temperature; Low simply gets there more slowly. Low is gentler on tough cuts and harder to overcook.
