Timer with alarm
A free timer with alarm that lets you pick the sound before the countdown starts. Phone timers give you one ringtone; here you choose a beep, bell or chime and hear it right away. Also searched as alarm timer, timer with sound, loud timer.
The three sounds
| Sound | What it is | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Beep | Three short, sharp square-wave tones | Kitchens, workouts, noisy rooms |
| Bell | A single struck bell that rings out and fades | Classrooms, shared offices, meditation |
| Chime | A rising three-note chime, softer than the beep | Desk work, study, quiet homes |
| Silent | No sound, visual alarm only | Libraries, exams, a sleeping baby |
Each sound plays three times over about three seconds. Change the Sound select and you hear a one-off preview, so you can test the volume before you commit.
What happens at zero
- The alarm plays and the progress ring turns green.
- A Time's up overlay covers the page. Press Space, Esc or Dismiss to close it.
- If Notify is on, a desktop notification appears, even when the tab is in the background or Sound is Silent.
- If Repeat is on, the same countdown restarts about a second later. See the repeat timer.
Mobile notes
- Audio is unlocked by your first tap on Start. Start the timer by touch at least once per visit.
- Screen lock mutes the browser on most phones. Keep the screen on, or use the phone's own timer for pocket use.
- On iPhone the alarm follows the media volume, not the ringer switch.
Need no sound at all? The silent timer page sets that up. For a quick start, the 10 minute timer and the countdown timer use the same alarm options.
Frequently asked questions
How loud is the alarm?
It plays at your device's media volume. Each sound repeats three times over about three seconds. Change the Sound select to hear a preview before you start.
Why did the alarm not sound on my phone?
Most phone browsers mute audio once the screen locks. Keep the screen on while the timer runs. On iPhone, the alarm uses the media volume, not the ringer, so check that too.
Can I get a notification instead of a sound?
Yes. Set Sound to Silent and tick Notify. Your browser asks for permission once, then shows a desktop notification when the timer ends.
How do I stop the alarm?
Press Space, Esc or the Dismiss button on the Time's up overlay. The sound stops on its own after three repeats either way.
